IMPORT REGULATIONS
Pets
If you are travelling with a pet, you should consider the following:
- Arrange vaccinations and travel documents for the animal on time.
- You must be the owner of the pet, or the owner's authorised companion.
- Pets must have a valid health declaration signed by an official or accredited veterinarian and be vaccinated against rabies.
- This vaccination must be done at least 21 days before departure.
- If your pet is under 12 weeks of age, they do not need to be vaccinated against rabies.
- The pet must be aged at least 15 weeks to enter the BES islands.
The following pets are prohibited from entering:
- Monkeys, canids or felines imported originating from countries of mainland South and Central America (with the exception of Suriname).
Free to Import
Tobacco (restricted to travellers 17 years and over)
One of the following:
- 200 cigarettes;
- 50 cigarillos;
- 25 cigars; or
- 125 grams tobacco.
Alcohol (restricted to travellers 18 years and over)
One of the following:
- 1 litre of spirits and sparkling wine.
In addition, both of the following:
- 2 litres of still wine; and
- 8 litres of beer.
Other Goods
- Personal items of non-commercial nature worth up to US$500 for
travellers 15 years and over.
- Personal items of non-commercial nature worth up to US$150 for travellers under
15 years of age.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Narcotics (such as marijuana, hashish, cocaine, heroin or any other narcotics that fall under the BES Opium Act).
- Weapons and ammunition. This includes firearms, knives, brass knuckles, swords, gas guns, airsoft devices, alarm pistols, pepper spray and fake weapons.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to arrival.
- Endangered animals, plants, and their derivative products protected
under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
may require protected species permits.
- Medication for personal use should be accompanied by a prescription.
