IMPORT REGULATIONS
Pets
To import pets into Georgia, you must meet the following requirements:
- They must be marked with a microchip or clearly visible swirling used before the 1st of January 2020.
- They must have been vaccinated against rabies.
- A rabies antibody test must be performed. This should be done in an approved laboratory.
- They should be treated with a broad-spectrum anthelmintic against endoparasites and exoparasites.
- The pet should be accompanied by a Health Certificate, or a pet passport.
- The maximum number of pets that are allowed to be imported for non-commercial use is five.

Free to Import
Tobacco
One of the following every 30 days:
- 200 cigarettes;
- 50 cigars;
- 50 cigarillos;
- 50mL electronic cigarette liquids;
- 250 grams of loose tobacco; or
- Any proportional combination of the above products up to a total weight of 250 grams.
Alcohol
One of the following every 30 days:
- 1 litre exceeding 22% alcohol volume;
- 2 litres up to 22% alcohol volume; or
- Any proportional combination of the above.
In addition, both of the following:
- 4 litres of still wine; and
- 16 litres of beer.
Currency
- Funds of more than GEL30,000 or its foreign equivalent must be declared to the customs authorities.
Other Goods
- Goods weighing less than 30 kilograms and with a value less than GEL3000.
- Goods with a value up to GEL15,000 if passenger has been outside of Georgia for
6 months.
- Medication containing narcotic and psychotropic substances if accompanied by a prescription.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Counterfeit and pirated goods.
- Illegal drugs.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to arrival.
- Endangered animals, plants, and their derivative products protected
under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
may require protected species permits.
- Plants and their derivative products must be accompanied by a
phytosanitary certificate, and an import permit. These products will then be
subject to inspection upon arrival in Georgia.
- Weapons and ammunition require permit from different official bodies in
Georgia, depending on the category of firearm.
- Antiques and art.
EXPORT REGULATIONS
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country.
- See prohibited import list.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to departure.
- Endangered animals, plants, and their derivative products protected
under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
may require protected species permits.
- Medication containing narcotic and psychotropic substances must be
accompanied by a prescription.
- Funds of more than GEL30,000 or its foreign equivalent must be declared to the customs authorities.
