IMPORT REGULATIONS
Note: All passengers entering Lebanon must declare all items in their
possession.
Free to Import
Tobacco (restricted to travellers 18 years and over)
One of the following:
- 800 cigarettes;
- 100 cigarillos;
- 50 cigars; or
- 1000 grams of tobacco.
Alcohol (restricted to travellers 18 years and over)
One of the following:
- 2 litres of whisky, cognac, champagne or similar strength alcohol; or
- 4 litres of other alcoholic products, for example beer or wine.
Other goods
- 1 litre of cologne or 100mL perfume.
- Medicines in a reasonable quantity for personal use.
- Non-commercial personal items valued at up to LBP500,000 for Lebanese, Syrian and Jordanian nationals
and residents, or LBP2,000,000 for all other passengers coming to Lebanon.
The free to import allowances are available for anyone 18 years of age or older.
Passengers below the age of 18 are
entitled to half the allowance, with the exception of alcohol or tobacco. Exemptions only apply every six months,
and more frequent
travellers are not entitled to duty free quotas.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Arms and ammunitions
- Narcotics
- Immoral publications and recordings.

Archaeological pieces.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to arrival.
- All pets must be declared to the customs authority, have a valid health certificate
issued at country of origin and have a valid rabies vaccination certificate.
EXPORT REGULATIONS
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country.
- Weapons and ammunitions.
- Narcotics
- Archaeological pieces and currencies.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to departure.
Any Lebanese nationals or foreigners residing in Lebanon must declare in
writing, when traveling abroad, any and all personal items listed below and
that they wish to bring them back without being subject to customs duties:
- Fur and valuable coats.
- Jewellery.
- Cameras and any similar items with a value equal to or greater than
LBP2,400,00 must be declared to customs in writing.
- Gold coins.
