IMPORT REGULATIONS
Pets
- All imported animals are required to undergo a health inspection.
- The traveller must inform the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) in advance of the date and time of arrival into Macau in order to obtain an animal licence.
- Upon arrival, the traveller will need to present a health certificate which fulfills the health entry requirements. This certificate must be issued by the Government from the country of origin.
- The animal can be released after their health inspection if results are satisfactory. If the inspection fails, the animal will be seized and will have to undergo a maximum of 6 months in quarantine at the travellers expense.

Free to Import
Tobacco
- 19 cigarettes;
- 1 cigar;
- 25 grams of tobacco; or
- A combination of the above goods weighing not more than 25 grams.
Alcohol
- 1 litre of alcohol more than 30% alcohol volume.
Currency
- Funds of more than MOP120,000 must be declared to customs.
Other Goods
- Medicine not exceeding 30 days of treatment for personal use must be accompanied by a health certificate if
it contains anaesthetic or psychotropic properties.
- Goods up to a value of MOP5000.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Stimulants, hypnotics and tranquilizers.
- Counterfeit goods and currency.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to arrival.
- Endangered animals, plants, and their derivative products protected
under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
may require protected species permits.
- Live plants are subject to the health and quarantine system.
- Meat and meat products, dairy, and eggs require an import licence from
the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, and will be subject to the health
and quarantine system.
- Other food, such as vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, and sugar cane must be
declared, and may be subject to quarantine to prove that it is suitable for
human consumption.
- Chemicals must be pre-approved by the Health Bureau.
- Narcotic and psychotropic substances require a permit from the Health
Bureau.
- Radio receivers require an import permit from the Post Office.
- Firearms and related weapons require permission issued by the Security
Police Station.
EXPORT REGULATIONS
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country.
- See prohibited import list.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to departure.
- CFCs.
- Protected species and their derivative products protected under CITES
require a permit for export.
- Medication containing narcotic and psychotropic substances must be
accompanied by a prescription.
- Goods up to a value of MOP5000.
