IMPORT REGULATIONS
Pets
In order to import pets (primarily cats and dogs) into Oman, you will need to obtain a prior veterinary permit through the Customs Bayan Systems, accompanied by the following documents:
- A record of the pets vaccinations (since birth), including a photo of the records;
- An electronic microchip number, identified on the vaccination records; and
- A copy of a blood test to calibrate rabies antibodies from an accredited laboratory.
In order to obtain a permit, you need to meet the following conditions:
- The pet must be vaccinated against rabies if they are aged 12 weeks or over. This should be no less than 3 months and no more than 12 months since being vaccinated on the departure date;
- The pet must be more than 4 months old;
- A blood test carried out 21-30 days after the last rabies vaccination;
In the case of importing dogs, the species should not be included on the list of species prohibited from being imported. These include:
- Pitbull;
- Staffordshire Terrier;
- American Bully;
- Mastif;
- Fila Barasilerio;
- Dog Argentio;
- Japanese Tosa;
- Rottweiler;
- Doberman Pinscher;
- Presa Canaria;
- Boxer;
- Boerboel;
- Caucasian Shepherd Dog;
- Anatolian Karabash;
- Great Dane; or
- Any mixed breed of above mentioned.

Free to Import
Tobacco
Alcohol (restricted to non-Muslim travellers 21 years and over)
- 2 litres of wine or 48 cans of beer.
Currency
- Funds of over OMR6,000 or its equivalent in other currencies must be
declared to the customs authorities.
Other Goods
- 100mL perfume.
- Personal possessions and clothing, including a maximum of 10 DVDs.
- Medication containing prohibited drugs must be accompanied by a
prescription certified by the Ministry of Health in the traveller's country
and attested they the Omani Embassy in that country.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Weapons, firearms, and ammunition.
- Fireworks.
- Drugs and drug related paraphernalia.
- Cannabis plants and related products.
- Raw or prepared opium.
- Pornographic materials.
