IMPORT REGULATIONS
Free to Import
Tobacco
All of the following:
- 200 cigarettes;
- 100 cigars; and
- 500 grams of tobacco.
Alcohol
All of the following:
- 1.5 litres liquor of 22% alcohol volume or higher;
- 2 litres liquor of under 22% alcohol volume; and
- 3 litres of other alcoholic beverages.
Currency
- Travellers must declare any amount exceeding VND15,000,000.
- Travellers must declare any foreign currency exceeding an
amount equivalent to US$5000.
Other goods
- Clothing and personal belongings.
- Other items which do not exceed a total value of VND5,000,000.
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be brought into the country.
- Weapons and ammunition.
- Explosives and firecrackers.
- Military equipment.
- Drugs.
- Toxic chemicals.
- Immoral and reactionary products.
- Toys with a negative impact on education.
Restricted
These goods are strictly regulated, and in most cases require a permit to be obtained
prior to arrival.
- Addictive medication.
- Jewellery and gold exceeding 300g must be declared.
- Precious metals and stones exceeding a value of VND300 million must be
declared.
EXPORT REGULATIONS
Prohibited
The following are goods which cannot be taken out of the country.
- Weapons and ammunition.
- Explosives and firecrackers.
- Military equipment.
- Drugs.
- Toxic chemicals.
- Wild and endangered animals and plants.
- Documents related to national security.
- Ingot gold.
- Raw material gold.
