HEALTH REGULATIONS
Before visiting Argentina you may need to get the following vaccinations or take the following precautions. It is best to seek medical advice as your individual health and your planned activities will be a factor. Seek advice 4-6 weeks before travel.
Current Outbreaks
Level 1 (Practice Usual Precautions)
- Cases of Measles are on the rise worldwide. All international passengers should be fully vaccinated against measles with the MMR vaccine, including an early dose for infants 6-11 months. They should be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before travelling.
Required Vaccinations
- There are no vaccinations required for entry to Argentina.
Routine and Recommended Vaccinations
- It is recommended that passengers are up to date on routine vaccinations including diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT), measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), polio, shingles, varicella (chickenpox), and yearly flu shots.
- A hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for passengers aged 1 year and older. Infants 6 to 11 months old should also be vaccinated (this dose does not count toward the routine 2-dose series). Passengers allergic to a vaccine component are advised to receive a single dose of immune globulin, which provides effective protection for up to two months.
- A hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for unvaccinated passengers younger than 60 years old.
- A rabies vaccination is recommended only for passengers working directly with wildlife.
- A typhoid vaccination is recommended for most passengers, especially those staying with friends or relatives, or visiting smaller cities or rural areas.
- A yellow fever vaccination is recommended for passengers aged 9 months and older who are visiting certain areas of Argentina. Consultation with a doctor regarding this vaccination should be sought prior to travel.
- All eligible passengers should be up to date with their Covid-19 vaccines.
- The Chikungunya vaccine is generally not recommended, but you should visit the 'what to consider before travelling' page who wish to consider getting it. All passengers should take steps to prevent mosquito bites.
