Emergency Travel Document
- Emergency travel documents may be issued by a state to their citizens for the purpose of urgent travel overseas, or back to their own country.
- Emergency travel documents often do not have biometric features, and may therefore not be used to enter countries whose visa waiver program requires the traveller to hold a biometric passport, unless they have obtained a visa to travel to that country.
- Some countries will issue a multiple use travel document valid for one year, while other countries may issue a document that may be used for one specific trip, valid for a length of time in line with the itinerary of the holder's trip.
- Emergency Travel Documents may be in a booklet format similar to a regular passport, or in a certificate format.
