Emergency Travel Document

Emergency travel documents may be issued by a state to their citizens for the purpose of urgent travel overseas, or back to their own country.
Emergency travel documents often do not have biometric features, and may therefore not be used to enter countries whose visa waiver program requires the traveller to hold a biometric passport, unless they have obtained a visa to travel to that country.
Some countries will issue a multiple use travel document valid for one year, while other countries may issue a document that may be used for one specific trip, valid for a length of time in line with the itinerary of the holder's trip.
Emergency Travel Documents may be in a booklet format similar to a regular passport, or in a certificate format.
