The Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau is a two-way permit issued to Chinese mainland residents in order to allow travel to Hong Kong or Macau and back visa free and instead of a Chinese passport. These documents are issued by the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of Chinese Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, and must contain an exit endorsement.

The exit endorsement defines the length the passenger is allowed to stay in Hong Kong or Macau, along with the number of visits the passenger is allowed to make. The exit endorsements are divided into 6 different categories:
  • 个人旅游 (G) – For individual visits. These endorsements apply to mainland residents from Guangdong Province and 28 cities in China.
  • 探亲 (T) – For visiting relatives.
  • 商务 (S) – For business trips.
  • 团队旅游 (L) – For tour groups.
  • 其他 (Q) – For other purposes, such as attending a funeral or treating an illness.
  • 逗留 (D) – Multiple exits and entries.
