NEXUS Card
- A NEXUS card allows low-risk travellers to travel between Canada and the United States without a passport, and expedite certain aspects of customs and immigration processing.
- NEXUS cards can only be used for travel between Canada and the United States.
- The card is jointly issued by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- For a traveller to be issued a NEXUS Card, they must be a citizen or permanent resident of either Canada or the United States. Applicants must also be legally admissible to both nations, have complied with immigration and customs regulations during previous travel, and must pass criminal history and law enforcement checks. Permanent residents of either country must also meet certain residency requirements.
- NEXUS card holders who are citizens of Canada or the United States do not require any other documents to travel between Canada and the United States. NEXUS card holders who are permanent residents of Canada or the United States (but not citizens) must also carry appropriate documents to enter the country they are travelling to, such as a passport, visa and/or permanent resident card, in addition to their NEXUS card.
- The card is the size of a credit card with a photograph of the person on the front with their surname, first name, sex, citizenship, date of birth, and the expiry date of the card. The back of the card displays a nine-digit Pass ID number with a bar-code visible on the top right of the card (see image below).
- NEXUS cards can expedite a passenger's journey if travelling to or from one of following airports:
- Calgary International Airport (YYC)
- Edmonton International Airport (YEG)
- Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport (YHZ)
- Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
- Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW)
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
- Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
- Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG)
